We got married on July 26, 2008- the start of something amazing! Ever since then, our theme has been transition. Immediately after our marriage and honeymoon, we moved into a studio apartment at a college where Whitney still attended. After that one semester of Whitney juggling school work and Derek commuting 1 hour one way for work each day, we moved to Louisville, KY for Derek to attend The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. ANOTHER TRANSITION: new city, new people, NO JOBS! The Lord was good and provided what we needed at the right time. After working many part time jobs, Whitney received a full time job. Soon after that, we found a loving church home at Highview Baptist Church. Then Derek graduated from Southern early! (YAY) But that meant another transition... MOVING! So we moved to our apartment and have tried to settle in. Then, the Lord called us to start a small group at church. What a wonderful blessing that has been for us! To live life with these couples has provided insight on how to parent, how to better love one another and has spurred us on to grow in our faith in Christ. NOW- we are entering yet another transition... ADOPTION! What a fun journey!
